Regulatory sign
Yield (give way) sign
The YIELD sign is an inverted (point-down) red triangle. It means you must give way to traffic on the road you are joining, stopping only if necessary to do so safely.
When you see it
- ◆ Slow down and be ready to stop as you approach the junction.
- ◆ Give way to traffic already on the major road.
- ◆ You need not stop if the way is clearly clear, but you must yield.
- ◆ Often paired with a "Yield" road marking (broken white line).
